Rev. Mary Barrett Speers
Pastor of Union Church



Mary Speers has served Union Church since October 2001. She has provided pastoral leadership to churches in Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Washington, D.C.; and has served on the faculty of the Jewish Guild for the Blind (N.Y.), the Corcoran School of Art (D.C.), the Craft Students' League (N.Y.), and BRUCA/the Bay Ridge-Union Center for the Arts www.bruca.org.
She received the A.B. with Honors in Fine Art from the University of Chicago in 1973, continued in graduate work in clay and glass at the University of Minnesota from 1974-76, received the M.Div. from the Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York in 1989, and was ordained by the Presbytery of New York City in 1990.
Before ordination, Rev. Speers worked in the visual and performing arts in Chicago, Minneapolis, and New York, and continues this involvement today in the parish and in retreat and workshop settings.
